Petrus De Kuyper worked for a coppersmith whose casks were used for transporting Dutch gin and beer. In 1729, his son, Johannes, bought a distillery in Schiedam - the centre of Dutch gin production.

Johnnie Walker Black Label
1820 – John Walker’s Business opens in Kilmarnock.
1870s – The square bottle was introduced.
Barley is naturally processed for distilling, the malted barley is ground to a rough flour then mashed by passing hot water through it, extracting a sweet liquid. The liquid is then cooled, yeast is then added and the mixture ferments, making a kind of crude beer. The beer is then distilled in a pot still – the clear liquid known as low wines are distilled a second time. The spirit is then aged in oak casks and Scotch whisky must, by law, be matured for at least three years in Scotland. The whiskies which make up JOHNNIE WALKER BLACK LABEL® are matured for a minimum of 12 years.

Luxardo Liqueurs
As an antique tradition would have it, a tradition that to this day embraces all the countries of the Mediterranean basin, Italy too has its anise based national liqueur: Sambuca. It is a sweet and strong liqueur, containing essential oils obtained by steam distilling the seeds of star anise, which are soluble in pure alcohol. A concentrated solution of sugar and other natural aromas are added to this.

MIDORI is a melon liqueur, but not just any melon liqueur, it was the first ever to come into this world. It is light and refreshing with a great honeydew melon flavour.

Hedingham Castle's Norman keep, 110 feet high, was built c.1140 by Aubrey de Vere and is still owned by one of his descendants. There are four floors to explore, including a magnificent Banqueting Hall spanned by a remarkable 28 foot arch, one of the largest Norman arches in England.
For those wishing to get married in a Castle, it is now possible to have a romantic candlelit Civil Ceremony in our beautiful Banqueting Hall. Small receptions can be held in the elegant rooms of the Georgian house. For larger parties or those requiring dancing, there is a marquee on the private Tulip Lawn. Drinks can be served on the terrace which has beautiful views over the lake.
We are also a unique venue for corporate events & conferences and can offer a range of interesting packages and on site accommodation.

Leblon
Leblon Cachaça is produced in a distillery in Patos de Minas, in the heart of Minas Gerais, Brazil (think sugar cane fields). Leblon combines traditional approaches with creative European winemaking techniques to create a Cachaça that is extra special. Gilles Merlet, famous master distiller from the Cognac region of France, takes Cachaça to a whole new level with his ‘French touch’. Gilles produces small batches using alembique copper potstills, then polishes the Cachaça in XO Cognac Casks for an ultra-smooth taste. The Cachaça is then blended across batches for flavor complexity, body, and aroma.
