
In the Tupi-Gurani language of Brazil, Ypióca translates to mean ‘Purple Earth’, a highly fertile soil ideal for cultivating sugar cane. Dario Teles de Menezes migr ated from Portugal bringing with him the artesian art of distillation and his very own ceramic still. In 1846 the Telles family began manufacturing the spirit on their farm producing just 30 litres per day.
Aromas of dill, tea leaves and evergreen; the final whiff is zesty, piquant and inviting. At palate entry, the tastes of sweet charcoal and soot give a wake-up call; the midpalate goes concentrated and pleasantly sweet. Finish is round, firm, clean tasting and agreeably sweet.
